So let’s quickly check if there is some open data available on how safe your way to school is. And hey, what a surprise, it is! MapBS is where you find anything spatial for the canton Basel-Stadt - including data on:

  • Pathways for pedestrians
  • Safety of street crossings (Schulwegsicherheit)
  • School locations

  • take the pathways as routes (needs some optimization / snapping)
  • add the crossings as resistances
  • use a routing machine (e.g. to find the safest way to school
